You are a Channel of Growth
Psalm 86:5 declares, “O Lord, you are good and forgiving.” Indeed, Our God is a Good and Merciful God. He is a Compassionate and Gracious God. He is our Creator and the source of our growth. Through this message you will experience the Mercy and goodness of God! Your stagnation will be brought to an end! Your growth and fruitfulness will be restored!
While reflecting on the goodness and greatness of God, the Author of the book of Wisdom exclaimed! “There is no god besides you, whose care is for all men… for your strength is the source of righteousness, and your sovereignty over all causes you to spare all.” Indeed, there is no God like our God. He is the Uncaused cause and the Unmoved mover. He is the Alpha and Omega, the All Powerful God!
Unlike human beings who uses their position to terrorize others, God’s might and greatness is shown through mercy and tenderness. Hence, the passage declares, “For you show your strength when men doubt the completeness of your power, and rebuke any insolence among those who know it. You who are sovereign in strength judge with mildness, and with great forbearance you govern us.” To sin is human but to forgive is Divine!
Lesson: “Through such works you have taught your people that the righteous man must be kind, and you have filled your sons with good hope, because you give repentance for sins.” The first lesson we must learn from God’s attitude toward human being is that we must be kind as our Heavenly Father is kind. As we enjoy God forgiveness we should also be merciful as our heavenly Father is Merciful.
Using parable in Matthew 13:27-30 Jesus showed how we should be patient with people as our heavenly Father is patient with us. When the servants wanted to uproot the weeds from the wheat the Master said, “No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. God wants us to live and grow together!
We human beings are so impatient with ourselves. A lot of talented people have been destroyed due to impatient. We forget that the worst sinner today may repent and become the best saint tomorrow whereas the best saint today may even change to become the worst sinner tomorrow. Judgment belongs to God! This is the reason why God allows good and bad people to grow together. Our God is a Patient God!
Child of God, do you know that you are destined for growth? The first mandate God gave to man was about growth and fruitfulness. God said,
“Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it… have dominion over every living thing that moves on the earth.” This is the foundation of our growth and fruitfulness!
In Matthew 13:24-43 our Lord Jesus Christ said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
Jesus told them a similar parable, according to him, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.”The two parables are all talking about divine growth. Growth is a kingdom reality. In fact, it is the essence of God’s kingdom. Anything that is related and associated to God’s kingdom must surely grow. Kingdom growth is slow and steady. You cannot compare the growth of human beings with the growth of other animals. A goat may be given birth today and it will start walking the same day. That is not the case with human beings. Since human beings are destined for God’s kingdom their growth is often slow and steady.
There are so many type of growth. Apart from physical growth we have intellectual and mental growth. We also have spiritual growth. In His Letter to the Romans 8:26-27 St. Paul highlight the channel of spiritual growth. According to him,
“The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” The Holy Spirit is the channel of Spiritual growth. If you want your prayer and spirit life to grow them you must remain connected to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to pray and how to grow in your union with the Most High God, which is the essence of Divine growth.
Child of God, I want to remind you once again that you are a product of God’s kingdom. You possess the seed of growth. You are destined for growth. As you remain connected to our Lord Jesus Christ you must surely grow. From today your business will start growing! Your family will grow! Your finances will surely grow!
Your growth and your fruitfulness will surely bring glory to God (Matthew 5:14-16) And it shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen!

O Lord, you are good and forgiving.
O Lord, you are good and forgiving,
full of mercy to all who call to you.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer,
and attend to my voice in supplication. R.
All the nations you have made shall come;
they will bow down before you, O Lord,
and glorify your name,
for you are great and do marvellous deeds,
you who alone are God. R.
But you, O God, are compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, O Lord,
abundant in mercy and fidelity;
turn and take pity on me. R.
