Today, August 6th is the Transfiguration of our LORD Jesus Christ. We are celebrating our Triumphant King. We are celebrating our glorious Messiah, the great Warrior; The Ancient of Days; The Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End; and the channel of our Transformation.
In Daniel 7:9-14, the Prophet described our God as the Ancient of Days, the one that Seats on the Throne. “As I looked, thrones were placed and one that was ancient of days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued and came forth from before him; a thousand thousands served him…” This passage is referring to our Heavenly Father, the Almighty God! the Creator that was not created. The Most High God! The Great I AM.
The Psalmist describes Him as the king, Most High above all the earth. Our God is indeed our glorious King! He is the King of kings and the LORD of lords! He is our glorious King. He is the same God that spoke during the transfiguration of our LORD Jesus Christ. He is the voice that was heard saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” What a glorious Voice!
The prophet Daniel testified, saying, “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” He is the One we are celebrating today, the transfigured Messiah. The glorious Son of God!
In the gospel of Matthew 17:1-9, the day of Transfiguration, Jesus took with him Peter, James and John and led them up a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as light.
And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. This is what Transfiguration is all about! Our LORD Jesus Christ manifested His heavenly glory while He was still here on earth. In his Second letter St. Peter attested to that, saying, “we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honour and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we heard this voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.
Child of God, do you know that you can experience your own transfiguration through prophesy and revelation? Yes of course, that is exactly what St. Peter meant when he said, “We have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns.” Prophetic word is the most creative and powerful force.
As you experience your transfiguration your life will never be the same. You will experience what Peter experienced on Mount tabor that made him to exclaim: “Lord, it is well that we are here; if you wish, I will make three booths here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” You will experience divine transformation and it shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen!
