The Rejected Chief Corner Stone

The downfall of a man is not the end of his life. The most rejected man today may end up becoming the most influential and most celebrated person tomorrow. A nobody today can equally become a somebody tomorrow. Those that are looking down on you today will soon look up to you.

This is the case with our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the rejected stone that later became the Chief Corner Stone. In the gospel of Matthew 21:33-43 Jesus told the chief priests and elders of the people another parable. According to Him, “There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a wine press in it. He built a tower, and leased it to tenants, and went into another country.

Before we continue, what does this vineyard represent? In Isaiah 5:1-5, The Prophet Isaiah describes the vineyard as the house of Israel. “The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, a cry!”

The LORD God planted His people in a fertile soil  and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. The Lord said,

O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I beg you, between me and my vineyard.

What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it?

When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? Is it fair?

Remember what our Lord Jesus Christ said in John 15:8, “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” To whom much is given much is expected!

Since God chosen ones have refused to bear the expected fruit what else do you expect God to do?

The Lord declares, “And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and briers and thorns shall grow up; will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.” The wages of sin is death!

This is exactly what happened in the parable of the vineyard as narrated by our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel of Matthew 21:33-43

After planting and taking care of the vineyard, “When the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit; and the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them. “Afterwards he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ “But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him and have his inheritance. ’ And they took him and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.” Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures:

‘The very stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?

Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it.”

 This is the story of God Almighty and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ. After creating the world God handed it over to man. Man could not produce the expected fruit. Imagine how many prophets and judge that the world has murdered. Finally God sent His only Begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ. He was not only reject by the this wicked and sinful world he was crucified. According to St. John 1:11, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.”

  His rejection and His crucifixion did not affect His glorification, instead as Peter told his fellow Jews in Acts 4:10-11:

“Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Child of God, do you know that human rejection attracts divine acceptance? Even if the whole world rejects you, God will never condemn you. Remember one with God is majority. if their rejection could not stop our Lord Jesus Christ nothing and nobody will ever stop you. Don’t worry! like in the case of our Lord Jesus Christ, those who are looking down on you will soon look up to you. Your case must surely end in praise!

let me share this good news with you”

The Power of Prayer

In his letter to the Philippians 4:6-9 St. Paul wrote, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus…” For St. Paul, prayer, supplication and Thanksgiving are the solution to everything.

What then is Prayer? What is the essence of prayer? How are we supposed to pray? When is the best time to pray? What are the benefits of prayer?

Prayer simply means talking to God and allowing God to talk to us. It is a dialogue and a mutual communication between the Most High God and we, His creatures. Prayer is a channel of divine communication. It is the only remedy to all our existential problems.

In a nutshell, Prayer is the most powerful spiritual force on earth. A prayerful one is a powerful one. God, we know governs the world, but it is only prayer that governs God. With prayer the impossible can easily become possible. Prayer makes way where there is no way.

Pray is not a public show. It is not an object of entertainment. In the gospel of Matthew 6:5-8 our Lord Jesus Christ taught His disciples the best way to pray. According to Him,

“When you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” If we pray to God quietly and secretly with faith He will surely answer us.

In the gospel of John 16:23-24 our Lord Jesus Christ assured us, his followers, Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.  Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Child of God, the Lord is giving you an open cheque. ‘Whatever’ means anything at all! If you ask anything with faith God will surely grant your heart desire. God will not only answer your prayer He will restore your joy and inner peace.

In his letter to the Philippians 4:8-9 St. Paul concludes, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Child of God, if you really want God to answer your prayer and if you want to enjoy inner peace with yourself and your fellow human beings then you must do what St. Paul recommends. Set your mind on the things that are noble, just, pure, lovely, and good. If you can do this, the God of peace will surely be with you and it shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen!

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 80:9 and 12.13-14.15-16 and 19-20 (R. Isaiah 5:7a)

  1. The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel.

You brought a vine out of Egypt;

you drove out the nations and planted it.

It stretched out its branches to the sea;

to the River it stretched out its shoots. R.

Then why have you broken down its walls?

It is plucked by all who pass by the way.

It is ravaged by the boar of the forest,

devoured by the beasts of the field. R.

God of hosts, turn again, we implore;

look down from heaven and see.

Visit this vine and protect it,

the vine your right hand has planted,

the son of man you have claimed for yourself. R.

And we shall never forsake you again;

give us life that we may call upon your name.

O Lord God of hosts, bring us back;

let your face shine forth, and we shall be saved. R.

    Lord make me a Vineyard. Let me yield grapes and not Wild grapes. Because you have done great deeds for me. Give me the grace to be fruitful because To Whom much is given, Much is expected. I ask you Lord not to remove the hedge surrounded me. I don’t want to get the wages of sin which is death.
    Father Lord forgive me and be merciful to me and restore my peace. Jesus I trust in you.

  17. Great post here. One thing I’d like to say is that often most professional domains consider the Bachelors Degree like thejust like the entry level standard for an online college diploma. Though Associate Degrees are a great way to begin, completing your current Bachelors reveals many doors to various employment goodies, there are numerous on-line Bachelor Diploma Programs available by institutions like The University of Phoenix, Intercontinental University Online and Kaplan. Another concern is that many brick and mortar institutions make available Online versions of their diplomas but usually for a drastically higher payment than the corporations that specialize in online diploma plans.

  18. Appreciating the persistence you put into your blog and detailed information you provide. It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same unwanted rehashed material. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.
